ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Entry requirement differs from course to another, you can always contact UKDEMIA for guidance if you unsure about your qualifications. As a general information, you must normally be at least 17 (18 for medicine, in general) before the degree programme starts. The university also needs to be satisfied that you satisfy the entry requirements for the particular degree programme that you intend to study. A broad knowledge of education, plus an acceptable level of English literacy is expected.

The entry requirements are an indication of the minimum grades/points required for each qualification. All applicants are selected on individual academic ability and therefore offer grades/points may vary. Details of the minimum course requirements are often different according to the department and popularity of the course at times. Universities accept many other qualifications besides A-levels. Just contact UKDEMIA and we will advise you of the suitability of your qualifications. If the university requires further qualifications we will advise you on the route to these qualifications.  

English Requirements:

If English is not your native language, and you intend to study in an English University or College, you require a recognised English language qualifications. you have to pass a test in English before you can admitted. English tests approved by most English Universities are:

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing Service Test) administered by the British Council. You should achieve an over all band of at least 6

  • TOEFL ( Test of English as a Foreign Language) Administered by Educational Testing Service, Princeton, New Jersey, 08540, USA. You will need at least a score of 550 (paper based) or 213 (Computer based test).

  • GCSE or GCE "O" level (Grade C).

Recommendation Letters:

Most colleges ask for teacher recommendations. The reason they ask for their opinions is because teachers get to know you personally and academically. For the most part their comments are fairly positive. Ask from your teachers to write to you a recommendation letters.

 

You should supply an original or official copy of your degree certificates and transcripts or a detailed official record of your higher education achievements, including courses taken and standards attained. Applicants from institutions where transcripts are not issued should submit an official document detailing the elements of the course they have taken and, if possible, the standards obtained. If the original transcript is not in English, then applicants must provide a certified or notarised English translation.

 Candidates who have obtained examination qualifications that satisfy requirements for admission to an approved university overseas may be considered for exemption from the general and course requirements. All such applications must be approved individually.

How and when to apply:

Application For all full-time courses at any UK University you must advise UKDEMIA and we will forward UCAS forms to you. There is an application fee that is payable to UCAS.  

If you are applying from the UK or European Union (EU), whatever your nationality, we must receive your application form between 1 September 2003 and 15 January 2004, except in the following circumstances:

You must apply to us by 15 October 2003 for courses at Oxford University or Cambridge University, or for courses in medicine (course codes A100, A101, A103, A104 or A106), dentistry (course codes A200, A203, A204, A205 or A206) or veterinary medicine or veterinary science (course codes D100 or D101).

For Art and Design Route B courses, you must apply to us between 1 January 2004 and 24 March 2004. We recommend that you apply by 8 March 2004 if possible to avoid the last-minute rush.

The universities and colleges guarantee to consider your application if we receive your form by the appropriate deadline. If you send in your form after the deadline date but before 30 June 2004, they may consider it but they do not have to.

If we receive your application form on or after 1 July 2004, we will send you details of Clearing. We will not send your application to universities and colleges at this stage, and you will have to contact them directly.

If you want to apply for deferred entry in 2003, perhaps because you want to take a year out between school and higher education, you should check that the university or college will accept a deferred entry application. If you apply for deferred entry in 2003, you must meet the conditions of any offers by 31 August 2004. If you accept a place for 2003 entry, you cannot reapply through us in the 2004 to 2003 cycle, unless you withdraw your original application by 30 September 2004.

You can only submit one UCAS application form in each year's application cycle.

Before you fill in the form, find out more about your preferred universities, colleges and courses by reading their prospectuses. Try to visit a UCAS Education Convention, where many of the universities and colleges will have staff and students at exhibition stands to tell you more about life on campus. Speak to your careers adviser and, if possible, go to university and college open days. Talk to your family and friends, particularly those who have been to your chosen universities or colleges.

You should be happy with your choice of course and university or college before you make your final decision. Remember, you will be spending the next few years there.
