British Chevening
Scholarships
The Foreign and
Commonwealth Office provides support to international students via its
British Chevening ,Scholarships. These are available, at varying levels,
to assist able students from countries with whom Britain have, or is
likely to develop, strong economic links. The awards are available for any
subject, and are advertised through the British Embassy or High Commission
in the student's own country.
Technical
Co-operation and Training Scholarships:
Under the Technical
Co-operation and Training Programme, there are full scholarships for
candidates from developing countries, who are already established in a
career, usually in the public sector, and who are below the age of
forty-five. Preference is given to subjects in economics, social and
technical areas. These schemes are not usually advertised since candidates
are nominated by their own government.
Commonwealth
Scholarships and Fellowship Programme:
These awards are intended
for candidates in Commonwealth countries or British dependent territories
who qualify for postgraduate study (taught course or research). The
scholarships are advertised by the Ministry of Education in the
candidate's own country. Applications are made to the Commonwealth
Scholarship Agency.
