Cost of living in Britain  

 

Before  coming to the UK and deciding to start a course at an English Institute, you must consider whether you can afford to meet all your study and living costs.

Tuition Fees

These will vary according to your course. They cover registration, tuition, examinations, graduation fees and student union membership. Usually tuition fees increase by about 3-4% every year.

As a General Information, for the year 2001, its in the following ranges:

Art Based Courses £7,000-8,000
Science Based Courses £8,000-9,800
Clinical Medicine £16,000-18,000

Living Expenses

Some students will spend less money that others while they are living ad studying in the UK. However, in order to have some idea of how much money you will need to live in UK, the following estimates have been made:

38 Weeks 52 Weeks
Single Student £5,500 £7,000
Student plus spouse £7,500 £10,000
Each child £2,000 £2,500

The estimates above cover the following expenses

Accommodation

Cost depends on the type of accommodation sought and whether meals are included or not included University hall or residence £180-£400
