History
Leeds is said to have more parkland
than any other European city, providing open spaces and recreational
facilities for all to enjoy. There is breathtaking scenery, footpaths and
bridleways and the opportunity to visit such attractions as the Royal
Armouries Museum and historic sites such as Kirkstall Abbey, Harewood
House, Temple Newsam and Lotherton Hall.
The city provides for a wide
spectrum of cultural interests. Musically, Leeds offers a variety, which
is hard to beat, ranging from chamber music and jazz at the West Yorkshire
Playhouse to folk festivals and rock in Roundhay Park; not to mention that
great Yorkshire tradition, brass bands.
You can enjoy the Northern Ballet,
Northern School of Contemporary Dance or Opera North at their frequent
performances in the city.
If you enjoy eating out, the city
offers a wide variety of international cuisine - French, Italian, Greek,
Indian, Chinese, Caribbean, Japanese, vegetarian or traditional Yorkshire
pudding if you prefer.
