History

Nottingham is one of the most vibrant cities in Britain. With a population of around 300,000, it is a bustling and cosmopolitan centre with a lot to offer. The city combines the best of old and new. Modern shopping centres and traditional markets on pretty pedestrianised streets offer everything from unique designer boutiques to High Street favorites.

In recent surveys, Nottingham was voted the best English shopping centre outside London. The Nottingham area has more sports facilities per head of population than anywhere else in Europe. Nottingham has a reputation for contemporary arts, with around 400 practicing artists - more per square foot than any other European city.
