History

Nottingham is a vibrant, lively student city, which is renowned for its student nightlife, sports arts and music. It covers a comprehensive range of shops, services and entertainment all within a short walking distance. Some of the places you may wish to include in your walk around the city are the Victoria Shopping Centre, the Old Market Square and Pelham Street leading towards the Hockley area with its trendy shops. To reach the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre from the Market Square there are a choice of routes via Wheeler Gate or Bridlesmithgate. These can be found at either end of the Square. Both roads offer a range of shops and eating places en route to the shopping centre.

Much of Nottingham’s café society is located in the Lace Market next to Hockley, which is also known for its night-clubs, and the Canal Wharf area behind the Broadmarsh Centre.

If you still have time to fill, have a quick trip to see Robin Hood’s statue by Nottingham Castle, passing Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, reputed to be the oldest Inn in the country and built into the castle rock and the cave network.

How to get there
